BK 2008

Black Knights 2008

'Young Musicians Guide to Rock' is the name of the 2008 production that Black Knights Senior Corps are proud to announce. A show that will be 'in ya face' from the very start incorporating some of the very best rock music there is. The show will be another original exciting BK production.

The Black Knights are very glad to be putting 'everyday' music on the drum corps field. The theme promises to have your head banging to the drumbeats and face-melting guitar riffs from music that has stood the test of time for decades up until the most recent releases.

2008 looks to be a very exciting year for the corps with old and new faces returning to work alongside recently appointed corps director Ken Mansfield. Emma Weir continues her role as Senior Corps Co-ordinator. Simon Hasting has taken the role of Musical Director/Arranger and is very excited to be finally putting rock music onto the drum corps field.

Vicky Richards (Pit Caption Head) and Rus Rogers are Co-writing the tuned percussion scores and Dave Haw will be writing the visual programme with David 'Fletch' Fletcher staying on as Visual Caption Head. Steven Blakeley has taken the role of Brass Caption Head, and 2008 also sees the return of former Corps Director, Steven Muzio, to help with brass and help to move the corps forwards.

Black Knights schedule until Easter has been released and the reduced schedule has already seen Alumni return to 'Rock the house' and an increase in of membership in all sections, including the recent promotion of three cadet members. There are still spots in all sections available, so if you are interested and are not currently attached to another organisation, please contact us for more details.

Black Knights Cadets Presents
"Knights in Space"

One Thursday afternoon Gordon was walking home from school when he felt the atmosphere go cold and he could feel something wasn’t right. He ran home as quick as he could to call the Major and asked him to get the rest of the Knights ready to meet him on Planet Krypton. He didn’t know what was wrong, but he wasn’t going to wait to find out!

Gordon went to his rocket and zoooomed up …into space. Space is a very big place, at first there was nothing. Gordon was confused, was he lost in space? Then Gordon saw the other Knights fly by and followed them to Planet Krypton, where Kristy and a strangely familiar face were there to help.

Gordon asked green man what was wrong, “On this planet, a strange force there is, but fear not” he said, “There are more Knights coming from the Black Hole”. Suddenly something appeared. It was Robofud and his army! All the Knights had arrived and were ready to fight. Kristy defended the ships using the laser cannons while the others charged towards the enemy.

BANG! CRASH! CLANK!  The battle was a difficult one and the Knights fought harder than ever. All of a sudden the rockets stopped and Kristy had disappeared, with Robofud nowhere to be seen. Gordon searched the whole of Planet Krypton with the others. They had just about given up, when finally, they found Robofud taking Kristy to his ship. The Knights launched one last attack and with this, Robofud was finally defeated.

The Knights had won. “WE DID IT!” they shouted. It was time to go back to the ships, the Knights said their goodbyes and prepared for their next adventure. Now off to the Moon!
