Welcome to the online home of one of Europe’s most successful music performance groups, THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Founded in 1992, the corps has provided hundreds of young people from Gravesham and the surrounding areas with training, skills and experiences that very few young people can boast, from performances at Wembley Arena and the National Indoor Arena to multiple national championships and national television appearances.
Based in our dedicated rehearsal facility in Northfleet, we provide experiences to members, aged 7 and up through our two main projects, The Black Knights Senior Corps and The Black Knights Cadets.
BLACK KNIGHTS CADETS
The standard of the performances that the Senior Corps give require a great deal of dedication and training to perfect, so members generally start within our training Cadet Corps.
This is where younger members from 7 and up are taught both the individual skills of performing their chosen instrument as well as the necessary team and “soft skills” required to make a coordinated performance successful.
Our cadets perform at local events and school fetes as well as competing nationally in organised competitions and on several occasions have been crowned Cadet Class Champions.
Rehearsals take place at our dedicated rehearsal facility on Mondays and Thursdays from 7 – 8.30. No experience is necessary and all instruments are provided.
BLACK KNIGHTS SENIOR CORPS
The success and reputation of the corps is such that it attracts members from around the South-East of England, as well as “home-grown” talent from the Cadet Corps.
As with the Cadets, all rehearsals take place at our dedicated rehearsal facility and on our own rehearsal field situated on the same site.
Since its inception the corps has competed in competitions both across the UK and in mainland Europe winning numerous championships.
Senior Corps rehearsals take place on weekends, mainly on Sundays and with the occasional Saturday rehearsal.
Although the corps attracts experienced members, there is no requirement for previous experience, as full training will be provided for new members.
Note: If you marched with a DCUK registered corps in 2007 and wish to march with the Black Knights in 2008, you must follow the Movement of Members guidelines before attending our rehearsals. These can be found on the DCUK Website.
